Service Description: The annotation layer is one of the core components of the Seattle Campus GIS base maps produced by Engineering Services. It serves as a reference layer to orient map users to the location they are viewing on campus by providing building, road, pathway and area names. The base annotations were extracted from AutoCAD and the background map that the Engineering Services Civil Engineer updates on a semiannual basis. All of the GIS base components (annotations, buildings and linework) originate in CAD and are brought into GIS.
